MICHAEL R. KAUTH, Ph.D. is Director of the national Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Program, Office of Patient Care Services, Veterans Health Administration. The LGBT Program develops training for clinical staff, responds to queries from the field, and advised Patient Care Services on best policy and practices for LGBT Veteran healthcare. Dr. Kauth is also the Co-Director and Associate Director for Education for the South Central (VISN 16) Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC). He is a clinical psychologist located at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston, TX and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Baylor College of Medicine. He has published widely on topics that include health psychology, LGBT health disparities, implementation of educational interventions, and the evolution of human sexual attraction.
